what Do the school fees include?
The short answer is more or less everything.
The price includes all accommodation, materials, examination fees, meals, weekend programs and trips in Europe and Denmark. There is an additional fee for overseas trips (see World Trips) and for the Surf Elective.
The fees for the School Year 2026/27:
- 3150 DKK per week, for 42 weeks.
- A non-refundable fee of 4000 DKK is required upon signing the contract to officially confirm enrolment.
- Furthermore, a non-refundable registration fee of 800 DKK, payable upon registration, is required to reserve your place.
- A year (42 weeks) with us, including the registration fee and deposit, will cost 137.100 DKK. This equates to approximately € 18.367 / 21.535 USD / 15.917 GBP (as per the exchange rate: 28 January 2025).
- For Danish Citizens (living in Denmark or abroad), or non-Danish families residing in Denmark with officially residency permits, there are subsidies available from the Danish Government for your child to attend the Efterskole year. These subsidies are means tested and vary depending upon personal finances and circumstances. We advise you check with the Efterskolerne Organisation website to verify if your family is eligible. Please note:
*There is an extra payment of 0-18.000 DKK for our World Trips, and the price depends on your chosen destination. One option, from the selection of World Trips offered, is always included in the school fee and has no extra cost (excluding pocket money).
**If you choose Surfing as your profile elective, there is an extra fee of 6000 DKK per student. This includes all transport to and from Hvide Sande, tuition and board rentals.
Winter wetsuits, gloves and boots are NOT included and must be provided by the student.
Payment options:
Normally, the fee is divided into 12 payments starting in June (approx. 2 months before the school starts). It is possible to pay for a full year - or pay for 6 or 3 months at a time, depending on your preference.
The payment schedule is up to you, but the payments must be made in advance.
Termination fee:
If the stay at T.I. is terminated before the summer holiday there is a termination fee of 8,000 DKK. The fee has to be paid regardless of who is terminating the stay (school or family).
If families give the school a minimum of four weeks termination notice they do not have to pay the 8,000 DKK.
Scholarships
For danish citizens it can be possible to apply for the governmental support. We do NOT offer any other scholarships.
