Danish classes

Danish at The International

Whether you can speak, write, and read a little or a lot of Danish, you have the opportunity to learn the language.

At The International, you can choose to supplement your Cambridge IGCSE examinations with the subject Danish FP10 if you already have knowledge of the subject and wish to maintain or strengthen your Danish.

You also have the opportunity to try your hand at the subject if, for example, you have no prior knowledge at all, or if you have some familiarity with the language and would like to learn more.

Danish as a Second Language

– or for beginners! For those who either already know a little or simply want to start learning.

You can choose to attend two lessons per week in Danish as a Second Language or Danish for Beginners.

The main focus of the teaching is to help students learn how to interact in everyday situations—both in writing and in spoken communication.

The teaching, combined with living in Denmark, where you will make Danish friends, provides a strong basic understanding of the language and enables you to practise and improve your Danish language skills.

Danish FP10

You can choose to supplement your international Cambridge IGCSE examinations with the subject Danish FP10.

Danish FP10 follows the official ministerial requirements for both teaching and examinations, and whether you take FP10 at The International or at another school in Denmark, it is recognised as equivalent.

We have Danish students who choose Danish FP10 because they want to maintain or strengthen their skills in the subject—but we also have Danish students who have lived abroad for several years and are taking on Danish as an examination subject.

The requirement for choosing Danish FP10 is that you can write, speak, and understand Danish at approximately native-speaker level.
