The day we had all been waiting for so long finally arrived on the 8th of August when we opened our doors to the new students and officially kicked off the 2020-2021 school year.
The first day was all about getting to know each other a little better, settling in. To do this the TI way, we organized a week, our Intro week, filled with fun activities and challenges.
The youngsters were introduced not only to their close surroundings in the school (contact group and corridor activities, tours around the school), but also to our lovely neighbourhood, where they took a walk around Vedersø Kirke, but also visited the wonderful seaside that is on our doorstep.
As a school, we also have to focus on academics, so the students were introduced to our Electives, such as Badminton, Volleyball, Tumbling, Exploring Denmark, Enterprise & Skills and many others as well. They then got to choose which electives they will follow until November.
We said hello to the weekend with a House Competition Friday, where the very first house competitions took place.
Amundsen has won the House Competition three years in a row. Will they do it again or will the crown go to another house this year? These were questions all students were and will probably be raving about all year.
As for Friday, it was a fun-filled day, where all four houses gave their best and presented the (hi-)story behind their house, came up with a chant and a song, they then went head to head in some fun outdoor activities that were close. Wheelbarrow race and egg-throwing. The whole thing ended with a well-deserved good-feel water-fight.
Asking the students about the week, Iratzxe said:
”It was very enjoyable to get to know the school and everyone. It was a lot of fun.”
Giancarlo added:
“It was informative, but tiresome at the same time. It was great seeing both schools and seeing the different electives”.
After this amazing week, we are looking forward to the next period which including our yearly camping trip to Ølstoft.
